More than 1,200 UBC students to attend 10th annual leadership conference

More than 1,200 UBC student leaders. faculty, staff and community members will gather for one of the largest student development conferences at a Canadian university.

The event features an opening address by spoken poet, Sarah Kay, founder and co-director of Project V.O.I.C.E, and a closing speech by bestselling author of The Book of Awesome, Neil Pasricha. Students will participate in workshops and attend presentations by community leaders including:

  • Shoba Kumari Sharma, director, Free the Children
  • Mark Brand, entrepreneur and local restaurateur, Save-on-Meats
  • Christy Louth, executive director, Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative
  • Sam Sullivan, former Vancouver mayor and city councillor
