UBC hosts international conference

UBC is hosting VUVX2010, the 37th International Conference on Vacuum Ultraviolet and X-ray Physics, bringing together scientists from all over the world working in the field of developing synchrotron, laser or plasma based sources of electromagnetic radiation in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV), soft X-ray and hard X-ray regions.

Asst. Prof. David Jones, Dept of Physics & Astronomy and Asst. Prof. Pierre Kennepohl, Dept of Chemistry are part of the organizing committee.

A free public lecture entitled Catching Electrons With Light? will be presented by Paul Corkum, a senior scientist at the Steacie Institute for Molecular Sciences on the 50th anniversary of the first laser.
