PhD candidate receives top scholarship

UBC PhD candidate and research assistant Babak Shadgan was awarded the Society of Photographic Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) D.J. Lovell Scholarship, the Society’s most prestigious scholarship. More than 360 graduate students from around the world whose research projects are in optics, photonics, imaging, optoelectronics, optical engineering and optical medicine competed for 26 scholarships at the 2010 SPIE World Congress in San Francisco in January.
