Date/Time: Friday, Feb. 26, 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Location: B.C. International Media Centre, Robson Square

Media are invited to a press briefing by UBC Prof. John Robinson, who is creating the greenest building in North America at the University of British Columbia.
When completed in 2011, the $37-million UBC Centre for Interactive Research on Sustainability (CIRS) will reduce the amount of energy used and carbon emitted at UBC.
Green features include:
- Net-positive energy production, using solar and other energy
- Wastewater treatment on-site
- Safe drinking water from treated rainwater
- Greenhouse gas-positive
- Carbon will be sequestered in the building’s wooden structure
CIRS will serve as a living laboratory for sustainability research, development and practice. During the Olympics, a CIRS model is currently featured at the BC Canada Pavilion located on the fourth floor of the Vancouver Art Gallery.
